MUSTANG PRIDE

I try to tell a story with my art and I want to share some of the stories behind the sculptures I have created. chrisnavarro.com  MUSTANG PRIDE 16’’ x 23’’ x 9’’ Monumental Bronze, 12’ x 9’ x 4’ The mustang has long been the symbol and mascot for Natrona County High School in Casper, Wyoming. As a tribute to the school, I created Mustang Pride, a wild mustang stallion rearing forward with mane and tail flying. This was a special monument to me, as my two children, JC and Natalie, along with my wife, Lynne, all graduated from NCHS. I was able to dedicate the bronze while my son and daughter were attending school there.

I DARE TO DREAM BIG AND I WILL….

I just finished my newest monumental sculpture ‘’DARE TO DREAM BIG ‘’ Height 6.5’ Length 10’  now to start casting it in bronze. This sculpture will also have an interactive element. Next to the monumental bronze ‘’DARE TO DREAM BIG’’ will be a large outdoor chalk board. At the top of the board a sign reads.
I DARE TO DREAM BIG AND I WILL….

‘’RISK’’

I try to tell a story with my art and I want to share some of the stories behind the sculptures I have created. chrisnavarro.com  ‘’RISK’’ Bronze, 32’’ x 15’’ x 12’’ A long and arcing cliff edge is the dominant design environment of this sculpture. A lean man, strong in body, is holding on to the edge of a cliff by his fingertips. He has taken the great risk to pull himself up and over the ledge to get to where he needs to be. There are times in life where if you want something bad enough, you have to be willing to risk everything.

RUNNING FREE

I try to tell a story with my art and I want to share some of the stories behind the sculptures I have created. chrisnavarro.com RUNNING FREE Bronze, 12” x 26” Wild horses are herd animals and, when possible, live in groups. Each herd has a lead mare that is in charge of the day-to-day running of the family group, thereby keeping the herd safe. She also determines the routes to be taken when they move. The head stallion, meanwhile, will push from the rear, keep the band together, and provide protection from predators and other stallions.

Lots of mixes in my family tree I guess I am a bit of a mutt with some cowdog thrown in! DNA

My wife for Christmas gave me a DNA Ancestry kit to find out about my heritage. You send in a sample of your saliva and in 6-8 weeks they give you the results. My parents both grew up in San Antonio, TX and the results and maps show my ancestors from 1775-1925 came from south Texas and the Mexico border area. It was a cool gift and interesting seeing the results. Lots of mixes in my family tree I guess I am a bit of a mutt with some cowdog thrown in!

SNOWIN’ AND BLOWIN’ AT 10 BELOW

I try to tell a story with my art and I want to share some of the stories behind the sculptures I have created. chrisnavarro.com   SNOWIN’ AND BLOWIN’ AT 10 BELOW Bronze, 11.5’’ x 21’’ x 5.5’’   I had to help rancher friend, Guy Robinett, move a bunch of cows that had gotten out through a downed fence. I was working in my studio when he called to ask if I could get on horseback and help him move them back to his ranch. “It’s 10 below zero outside!" I said. And he replied, “I know, I wouldn’t be asking for your help if I didn’t need it.” I told him I would be there early the next morning. It took us all day to round up the cattle and move them back to the ranch. It was so cold that the horses and cattle had ice sticking to them. We pushed the animals with ropes and horses to get them to move. It was a long, cold, miserable dayone that I will always remember. I used it for inspiration and was able to get a new sculpture from that experience.
